Motorhome Guide: What You Need to Know About Renting a Motorhome

Renting a motorhome for the first time? Our Motorhome Guide fills you in on everything you need to know about renting one of our motorhomes for your next big adventure.

What’s included in your motorhome

We’ll make sure you set off on your adventure equipped with everything you’ll need while on the road. All our motorhomes come fitted out with a sink, stove, fridge and dinnette, as well as cooking and dining equipment to make meal-times easy. We also supply sheets, doonas, pillows and towels so there’s no need to bring them along yourself.

We also include an outdoor table and chairs, and all our vehicles are fitted with a roll out awning so you can make the most of your natural surroundings (check the specific vehicle for more information).

On request, we can also help out with additional services such as bike hire or pre-stocking your cupboards and fridge with our grocery delivery service so you’re ready to hit the road as soon as you collect your motorhome.

How many people can fit in a motorhome

We offer you a choice of vehicles which can comfortably accommodate between two and six passengers. While the sleeping configurations will vary according to the vehicle you select, some of our vehicles can accommodate up to three double sized beds. They also include plenty of storage to stow your luggage away.

Whether you’re looking for something compact and simple or spacious and luxurious, our vehicles are intelligently designed to easily convert from day to night so you can cook, dine, sleep and travel in comfort.

Where you can travel in your motorhome

The real beauty of renting a motorhome is the freedom you have to go where you want, when you want. Whether you decide to spend days or weeks in a single location is entirely up to you, allowing you to explore on your own terms.

When you hire one of our motorhomes, you can take the vehicle on any sealed road throughout Australia and you won’t be restricted by any kilometre limits.

When deciding where to park overnight, you’re free to stay wherever you choose so long as it is safe and legal. National parks and designated roadside rest areas are a great low cost alternative to caravan parks, however we do recommend that you plug into a powered site at least every second or third night to allow the auxiliary batteries to recharge.

If you’re looking for some inspiration on where to go, take a look at our recommended itineraries, places to stay and things to see and do in some popular locations around Australia.

Travelling in a motorhome with children

Embarking on a motorhome adventure with children can be a highly rewarding experience that is guaranteed to create memories that will be cherished forever.

Children aged six years and over can travel in any of our vehicles. If you will be travelling with children under six years of age, we can provide baby and booster seats on request so they too can travel in safety and comfort. See our baby seat page for more information.

Driving your motorhome

Our motorhomes are all late-model vehicles which can be driven on a standard car licence. If you hold an international car license, you can use your regular license provided it is an unrestricted license which has not been cancelled or revoked.

All our four and six berth motorhomes include automatic transmission as standard (including a clutchless manual feature) to make for an easy driving experience. Our two and three berth HiTop campervans are available in both automatic and manual models—simply specify if you have a preference at the time of booking.

We also make it easy for you to find your way around by providing a complimentary GPS navigation unit with your hire upon request.

If you encounter any difficulties along the way, all our vehicles are also covered by 24-hour roadside assistance for mechanical services and you’ll also have access to our assistance hotline if you need any information or help with your vehicle.

To make the most of your experience, we also strongly recommend you download our Let’s Go Australia app which includes maps and a range of useful information to help you along your journey. You may also find it useful to read our tips on driving in Australia and our other travel trips.

Booking your motorhome

Arranging your motorhome rental is easy—simply lodge a quote enquiry specifying your preferred travel dates and pick-up and drop off locations and we’ll email you a quote which is valid for seven days. If you decide to go ahead with your motorhome booking, select the ‘Book Now” link in the email.

When you confirm your booking, we’ll require a deposit of $500 or 10% of the value of your booking (whichever is greater) with the balance to be paid before or upon collection of the vehicle. We have a 7-day minimum hire period (which may increase during peak holiday periods and from 3-days for bookings over the next 5 weeks) and you’ll have the option to extend your booking if you desire (all subject to availability).
